I met Iggy Pop at Max’s Kansas City in 1970 or 1971. Me, Iggy, and Lou Reed at one table with absolutely nothing to say to each other, just looking at each other’s eye makeup.
You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.
Just so we’re all clear on what we just read. Black people make up 22% of the poor but only 14% of the government benefits. Meaning, 8% of poor Black people are not taking government benefits when they need them.
While, white people make up 42% of the poor but receive 69% of the government benefits. Meaning, there are white people who are classified as middle class who are receiving government benefits.
…but welfare queens and stuff.
LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT!
Black people make up 22% of the poor BUT only 14% of the government benefits.
White people make up 42% of the poor BUT receive 69% of the government benefits.
This needs to go viral.
This is essential piece of information revealing racial bias AGAINST Black people in receiving government benefits.
Never again do I want to hear about White people living in poverty.
Never again do I want to hear about Black people living on government benefits.

I wonder if killing yourself is the only thing you can control in your entire life, and that’s why it’s a sin. Because you’re beating God at his own game.
Pics and It Didn’t Happen
An excellent article from The New Inquiry on the dilema of temporary photography vs. digital over-abundance. (Full article HERE)
The tension between experience for its own sake and experience we pursue just to put on Facebook is reaching its breaking point. That breaking point is called Snapchat.
It is a nostalgic time right now, and photographs actively promote nostalgia. Photography is an elegiac art, a twilight art. Most subjects photographed are, just by virtue of being photographed, touched with pathos. An ugly or grotesque subject may be moving because it has been dignified by the attention of the photographer. A beautiful subject can be the object of rueful feelings, because it has aged or decayed or no longer exists. All photographs are momento mori. To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s (or thing’s) mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt.
—Susan Sontag, from On Photography (1973)
Wake up every morning and tell yourself that you’re a badass bitch from hell and that no one can fuck with you and then don’t let anybody fuck with you.
You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it.
Attacking femaleness, deriding ‘girly stuff’ and rolling your eyes at ‘women’s issues’ declaring yourself a ‘tomboy’ who gets along better with men because women are silly or pretty or whatever, these are expressions of internalized sexism. If that’s the way you feel about your own sex you’ll be doomed to feel inferior no matter what you achieve in life.
What I really want to say every time someone asks me this.
what i will say when someone asks me this next time.
Why is it that when a story is associated with an Arab or Muslim, the context of it suddenly changes? During the presidential election of 2008, news outlets concerned themselves with the religious faith of Barack Obama and developed a keen interest in his association with Islam. As if something so dear and close to the heart of an individual is something that the masses can discuss and argue over.
They say we live in a post racial era but Anti-Semitism, in its most concrete form –exists. Failure to adequately describe “Anti-Semitic” by presenting it as a ‘Jews only’ concept is unfair. It is no longer just the Holocaust but the reality of Palestinians on a day to day basis.
There is a double meaning for “Semite” which defines both Arab and Hebrew speaking peoples. This mounding epidemic of global hate towards one side of the Semitic spectrum is made clear by this illustration.
Not feminism: Oh my God, that woman is wearing make-up and high heels! She can't be a feminist. She's just adhering to the patriarchal expectations of femininity! What a traitor to her gender.
Not feminism: I hate men! Women are so much better than men! All men are rapists and we don't need their help! Men are just there to oppress us and keep us down! Women are the superior gender.
Not feminism: You're giving up your career to have a baby? You're being dictated to by a man! That's the wrong choice! You've slept with twenty men? Wow, way to show that you have no respect for yourself.
Feminism: Women and men are equal. No-one should be discriminated against on the basis of their gender. Women have the right to decide how to live their life, how to dress, what to do with their body and who to love.
Sometimes not telling people anything is a good thing.

look it’s fine if ur not religious omg it’s 100% ok but once u start telling people that their prayers are worthless, that God isn’t listening, that He is imaginary, that Jesus didn’t exist, that their religious texts are garbage, etc. then you’re a piece of shit shut up
